HOW LONG DOES COVID-19 LAST ON SURFACES?

We scoured the Internet to find the most reliable sources to try and understand how long COVID-19 will last on surfaces and here's what we found:


Of note in this article is the extensive list of approved cleaning products. If surfaces are dirty, first clean them using a detergent and water, then disinfect them. A list of products suitable for use against COVID-19 is available here.

Of note in this article is the % of virus material lasting on surfaces. Machamer: "What's getting a lot of press and is presented out of context is that the virus can last on plastic for 72 hours—which sounds really scary. But what's more important is the amount of the virus that remains. It's less than 0.1% of the starting virus material. Infection is theoretically possible but unlikely at the levels remaining after a few days. People need to know this".
