On June 16, 1884, American welcomed its first roller coaster! And where else would one build the first ever roller coaster? Of course at Coney Island, in Brooklyn, NY.
Commonly known as a switchback railway roller coaster, the TOP speed hit six miles per hour...for comparison sake, the fastest roller coaster in the world today hits 149.1 miles per hour (Ferrari World: The Ferrari of Amusement Parks).
